I have got my DS212j with DSM 5.1-5022 Update 2 running a VPN client working and can still access the NAS via my QuickConnect ID. All I did was just configure my VPN client in the networking setting with automatic re-connect when connection is lost. Edit: I see were referencing the Synology VPN client access license and I was not even aware of that. The reason why I thought I could share the VPN connection I have already achieved from the NAS to the LAN was because there was a checkbox to allow other devices to use the VPNs internet connection. I'm trying to connect my synology to a pfsense openvpn server. I can connect my linux computer to the pfsense. I can't get the synology openvpn client to connect. I'm guessing it is because on my linux machine, the vpn settings uses a user name and password, user cert, ca cert, private key, and private key password.

Now push Apply and the VPN Server is active for PPTP on the Synology NAS Server. Since my NAS server is Danish, the field names in the screen shot is unfortunately in Danish. Next step is to make sure, that the correct ports are open in your router. To enable the VPN traffic through the router for PPTP you need to open the ports 1723 and 47 (GRE).
